3 more days to the reunion !
November 21, 2007
The big event is fast approaching. 3 more days to go. This is so exciting !
We had our final committee meeting last Thursday evening, and have worked out the final details.
Venue :
Just as a reminder, the reunion will be held at 7pm, Republic of Singapore Yacht Club.
The address is 52 West Coast Ferry Road, Singapore 126887.
Transportation :
It is a little far from the city. As promised earlier we will be organizing a car pool. We currently have a driver who has kindly volunteered.
Thanks to Samantha Chia formerly of Sec 4/4. If you would like to volunteer as a driver, please reply all to this note, and indicate the route you’ll be taking or where you’d be willing to pickup passengers. If you need a ride, please indicate where you’d need it from.
Parking :
Cashcard parking is available on site, at the Club. If you would rather not pay, you can also park along West Coast Ferry Road ( the club has negotiated for visitors to park along the road.
Dresscode :
Thanks to Yong Soo Ping formerly from Sec 4/9 for suggesting the theme of Blue & White.
For the evening you can come dress in Blue & White ( or better yet in your old uniform ) or in Rafflesian colours of Green, Black & White.
There’ll be a best dressed award for those who dress to the theme.
Program :
Dinner starts at 7pm and our program for the evening begins at 8.
We’ll have a harp performance by a current RGS girl, the daughter of Josephine Koh, formerly from Sec 4/8.
A slideshow of the photos you’ve sent us will be playing all evening to put us in the mood for nostalgia.
Aside from the Best Dressed Award we’ll be giving out a few others too.
Watch out for it. Ma Ping Nee, formerly of Sec 4/9 has kindly agreed to be our MC for the evening.
Fund Raising :
As we all know, our alma mater has transformed herself from a government school to an independent one.
Fees at about $350 a month per student. Wow ! Yes, I can hear you say that.
The school currently has a Needy Student Fund which provides fees, pocket money, and an allowance for materials and transportation to deserving girls whose families do not have the means to pay the fees. Through this fund, bright young girls are not deprived of the peerless RGS education that we’ve had the privilege to experience.
We’ll be organizing a fund raising that evening to support this cause. You can choose to contribute in cash or cheque. If you choose to send your cheque to the school directly please indicate that the contribution is for the Needy Student Fund, and that you’re from the Class of 1982. We welcome all contributions regardless of amount, and it is of course entirely voluntary.
Payment :
Finally for those of you who have not paid ( you’re receiving this note because you have indicated that we’ll see you on November 24th ), please send your cheques to Geraldine Tan. Her address is Tai Yuan Heights, Singapore 555182.
Prices :
Adult ( or child aged 12 and above ) : $48.15
Child ( between 4 and 11 ) : $33.70
Infants ( below 4 ) : Free
Corkage : $20 per bottle payable to the club on the evening
Looking forward to seeing all of you there. If you need any clarifications, please contact Geraldine (geraldinetancs@yahoo.com.sg ), Serena (stn1688@hotmail.com ) or Rebecca (rngee@singnet.com.sg ). I’ll be away from Singapore from tomorrow, Friday 16th November for a week and will have no access to emails.
Until we meet on 24th November.
