We had a great party !

December 2, 2007

Here we are 25 years on

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our reunion at the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club last Saturday. We had a great time, and it was wonderful to see everyone again. Some of us hadn’t seen one another in 25 years ! Here are photos of the evening. Thanks to Rebecca and Lily for being shutterbugs.

Over 40 of us got together, reminisced about the good old days, caught up on 25 years of happenings in our lives, ate and were entertained by Mifiona, daughter of Josephine Koh formerly of Sec 4/8.  Ma Ping Nee was our ever entertaining MC, gamely leading us in our school song.

Jasmine in RGS pinafole Most of us were dressed to the theme of Blue & White. Jasmine took the best dressed award by coming in a RGS pinafole. Way to go Jasmine.

In addition we raised $240 for the “RGS Support a Pupil Scheme“. Those of your who are interested in contributing directly to the school, the form is available here. Remember contributions are enjoy double tax credits. It’ll be great if you indicated that you are from the RGS class of 1982.

To top off the evening, awards were given out to our classmates. Awards were given to The Lazy Bum, Miss Goody-Goody, the Googleblestest, and the Most Productive Mummy. To recognize the evergreens among us, a Time Stood Still Award was given out.

Thanks for the great memories and here’s to meeting at our 30th Anniversary in 2012. Keep in touch !

  1. Serena Tan Says:

    Dear Girls,
Happy Chinese New Year and may all of us and our families enjoy a wonderful and successful year of the Rat !

Through the reunion, I’ve found some long lost friends and renewed friendships with people whom you would not normally keep in touch. I’m also surprised at the nos of us who have settled outside of Singapore. America and Australia are the most common countries to find ex-1982 girls. And I must say, many of us are globe-trotters and high-flyers – too occupied with business travels or holidaying to attend the reunion.

Well I hope our next reunion will have an even bigger turnout and that more notice will be given to all. The most difficult part of the process was updating our contacts which were already 5 years old (from the 20th anniversary). Also there were many missing contacts. As for the organizing experience, I enjoyed the few meetings we held at Rebecca’s office, drinking wine, snacking and having home-cooked dinner. We had a lot of fun recalling funny anecdotes about people and talking about what kind of awards to give out.
I don’t know if the same people will be the next organisers of the reunion but we will definitely pass the name list to whoever wants t take the initiative. So meanwhile, do inform any of the organisers your contacts change – esp. to Geraldine Tan. She is on the committee of ORA – RGS chapter.
Since we are all in cyberworld now, there’s no reason to disappear into oblivion – so keep in touch everybody !
